While this event is not strictly related to paddling, you might want to consider the following.
The York Sunbury Search & Rescue will host their annual pancake and maple syrup breakfast in Kings Landing’s Visitor Reception Centre on Saturday and Sunday, March 29 & 30. The event is a major fundraiser for this organization, and visitors enjoy a generous meal of pancakes, eggs, beans and more for only $8.75 per adult, $5.50 per child.
Just inside the village, costumed staff will be boiling sap in iron cauldrons over an open fire, demonstrating the art of syrup and sugar making as it was performed 150 years ago. Children and kids-at-heart may sample a sweet treat of maple candy-on-the-snow made from the syrup right in front of their eyes.
Horse-drawn wagon rides will be operating both days (weather permitting), transporting guests to the Joslin Farm and the King’s Head Inn. At the King’s Head Inn visitors will be able to enjoy refreshments and costumed entertainment.
The breakfast will be served from 8:30 to 3:00 both days while the historic Sugar Bush and village activities will operate from 9:00 to 4:00 on both days. Admission to the sugarbush is $10.00 for a family, $5.00 for adults and $2.50 for children. Maple candy on the snow will be $2.00 per stick.
