Well, I survived my second solo trip on the Little Tobique. I was anticipating a nice, gentle paddle with a lot of shallows. Much to my surprise the river was up in the alders! Apparently they had a LOT of rain in a VERY short time on Wednesday. Friday afternoon and the river was still brown.
Long story short, the water level was both good and bad. I could sneak around the worst of the jams, never had to worry about grounding, but there were no nice gravel bar camp sites. They were all under at least 8 inches to a foot of water! Anyway, it was a fast trip and one that I survived.

Glad to hear about your solo trip, Steswie. I'm happy you had lots of water.
I just went on my first solo trip July15-16 from Stanley to Fredericton on the Nashwaak. The water was low (5.17 at the Narrows) and I had to dodge a million boulders through the long rapids below Stanley in the 28 degree heat. Thank goodness I had my stubbing pole, there was not enough water to grab with a paddle in the rock gardens.
