Water meter shows levels as being very (too) low.
Anyone know if it'd be runnable this weekend (May 21st)? I'd like to take a rookie so I've been waiting for a nice sunny weekend when the water wouldn't be "scarry" to newbie.
Thoughts?

If you don't mind dragging your canoe often than you can still make it down the river.
There is a good chance we will be moving our annual trip to the St.Croix.
As for the newbie, something to keep in mind, the river is technically more difficult with less water. You won't get swamped by standing waves but there are a lot of rocks to get around or fetched up on. It's fun and challenging but not necessarily easier.

SPG,
You can make it down the river, but it won't be fun, and you will be pushing and fetching up on every stretch of fast water. Your newbie friend may never want to go with you again.
I speak from experience, having run the Miramichi in low low water and wishing I were anywhere else. There will be other weekends with better water soon, this dry stretch may be followed by a rainy spell. Just remember how much it rained last summer!

There's plenty of water further north if you want to drive a few more hours north. The Upsalquitch and Restigouche are nice and full. No rapids like you'd get on the Miramichi but a nice run just the same. The season is still early on the Restigouche, so there's almost no traffic. Upsalquitch, there's none.

Thanks to everyone for the insights. I think I actually "knew" that it wasn't a good idea but I REALLY wanted to "make it work". Glad you talked me out of it. Thinking about the Kedgwick .... put in at Mile 25.
