Happy 2010 All:
Today, Sunday March 21, Mike G. and I went out to paddle the Nashwaak but the take out at McLaughlin's Bridge still had ice well out onto the River. Maybe 20 feet out and the distance from the water to the top of the ice was 3 or 4 feet.
No trip for us.

Sammy the intrepid beats us all as usual. I don't suppose you had a chance to look at the launch at the Nashwaak Bridge? I was thinking of a leisurely float with a couple buddies this weekend, I wonder if we could run from Stanley to Nash Bridge, or Nash Bridge to Durham. I also noticed that the Nasis Stream is up to .7 today so I brave soul could float successfully so long as the ice/trees/garbage aren't blocking any lines of decent. I think i'll wait and run that one later some nice warm evening. Did you look at the Tay?

We did look at the Tay... there was the narrowest of passages through the ice visible from the Bridge on the put in.
Not sure about the take out.
