Anybody out there able to determine the model of a Chestnut I have? It's located in Fredericton if you want to see it.
16' long, heart shaped decks, might be mahogany trim (reddish colour) 33/34 " beam 24 in bow height
Jamie ..... might sell or trade it too...

Jamie,
I'm no definitive resource for sure but I have looked into and at a lot of old chestnuts. Would love to have a look at it if you don't mind. Pete

Jamie, remember I was commenting on the cant ribs not being extra wide. Here's a fact I found out recently about Chestnut:
"Cant Ribs: Cant ribs in pre-fire canoes are the same width as the regular ribs. In post-fire canoes, the cant ribs are much wider than the regular ribs."
The fire they speak of was 1921.
looks to me by the fact it is likely pre 1921 that it is either a Kruger or a Moonlight, both 65lb boats, (pleasure and cruiser respectively). I'd love to find some pictures of those models from the catalogues to compare.

She's got a for sale sign on her now....too many projects on the go. Going to build a camp up near Eel river after garage is built, and my money that I planted didn't pop up like I had hoped.

Hey Pete
I picked up an original catelogue likely from the 70's and some original decals the other day.
Spec on the Kruger states it has 4 thwarts. My canoe has only 2. Also it says the cruisers didn't normally have a keel.
Kind of narrows mine down to an Ajax or a moonlight.
