Hey Paddle Pals. We did the NW Upsalquitch last week (July 11th) from 10M to Robinsonville. There is a very dangerous spot around 6M. The river splits and the left side is obviously too low (and leads to back water log jams that you have to portage to get back to the river). If you go right there are downed trees acting as sweepers, an uprooted tree in the middle and this all leads to a pile of blowdowns in the water (strainer). It's best to stop and really scout it, as you can make it by if you can stay far right (we were in kayaks and 2 of 4 got pinned). And if in a loaded canoe best to walk your boats down. If you can't stay right, you'll be stuck between a down log and the blowdowns. We had to rope both guys and boats out of the mess.
And at Mile 4, you have no choice but to walk river left. She is plugged solid. I think the lack of big melt this spring led to the river having more than the usual amount of trees in the river.
