Well, Rich convinced Shawn and I to run the Tay on Monday. No one had run it before. We used Ken's report as a guide on where to put in and take out. What a nice river. Could have used another foot of water, but still very runnable.
We pumped ourselves up for the viscous Tay Falls, which we went over not realizing that they were Tay Falls...opps. I guess they aren't as big as we expected. We stopped for lunch at the northward merging of Tay river. This river looked quite nice and begs us to return and try it. We continued downstream searching for this Tay Falls, which we had already passed. We all knew that it was about 1/4 to 1/3 or the way in so we figured either we passed it, or we were really late.
We took our time all day, stopping to surf the odd whitewater and play in a few eddies. I managed to fill my boat with water and got a bit wet after giving into peer pressure and trying to surf sideways. I do not think my boat was designed for this...
There is a nice set of falls near the end of the trip that we all successfully ran without troubles. Does anyone know the name of these? Great fun. Great trip. Good river.
