With all this rain we hope to get 5 guys on the river for 4 days and 3 nights.
We are aiming for water levels of 2.3m max or below. 2-1.8m being the preferred level.
We will be running two tandem canoes loaded and 1 solo canoe loaded.
We have been running this river yearly for over 10 years.
We have never been on it above 2m. A few guys went the year everyone flipped. Water was above 3 I beleive.
What, your guys opinion, is the water level you would feel comfortable in an open canoe with no floatation and loaded? The boats will be a Penobscot 171 tandem, Disco 169 tandem and a Disco 159 solo.
We plan on landing at the Ranger camp the first day, spending 2 nights (doing any maintenance we can) and moving onto Clearwater on day 3 for a night. Paddling out on day 4 to Norrads.

I'very had good runs between 1.5 and 2, it gets a little harrier above 2, IMHO.

The ones paddling the Discovery models should expect to take on lots of water if the river is running high. Frequent bailing may be required but shouldn't be an issue. This was 2015, just after 2 inches of rain the day before, river was up considerably higher than our usual 1 - 1.5 run level.

Well here we sit at 3.7m and 2 weeks away from cast off. I still have hope it will drop to 2m or less. Has anyone ran at around 2.2m? Is it a big difference over 2?
We are just hoping the Ranger Brook camp is unscathed from the rivers crest of 6.2m. We hope land at the camp mid to late afternoon on the 25th.

Well with water dropping steadily it looks like it being too high won't be an issue. The lads running the Chi on the long weekend are poised to enjoy brilliant weather and water. Enjoy!
Could any that run it this weekend let us know the condition of the Ranger camp? I'll be heading down with 3 others on the 25th. We will stay at the camp for 2 nights. Water will be a bit low but it's better than it being too high.
