I removed the story about the Piskahegan Stream from my index page. Kyle, Mitchell and I went on this river last weekend. It didn't look much like it did two years ago, it was much flatter and the meadows were much longer than I remembered from 2004. Maybe all the little swifts and quickwaters were drowned out, the guage on the North Oromocto at Tracy was almost off the scale at 1.75. Basically, the stream was running over its banks and into the woods. It looked a lot like the North Oromocto, which is just over the hill from the Piskahegan, a sluggish stream through long alder bogs.
Not to say we didn't have a good time, despite the pounding rains. The rapids on day two as we approached the first falls under the Mines Bridge were huge, with nice drops and curling waves. Kyle was hard to hold back, he made every drop look like child's play.
I'll have some pictures, and a more factual description of the Piskahegan, in the near future.
