Doing the Chi this spring from Norrad's bridge down to the Blackville bridge. Anyone done this stretch before? I'm thinking it'll take 3 days and 2 nights, i'm not familiar with the upper stretch but know from Priceville to Blissfield part, the lower portion will also be new. Anything to watch for or tips would be greatly appreciated.

All private land through there, finding legal camp sites would be most important. It's well used stretch so finding campfire wood might also be tough. No falls or rapids, just the usual dangers associated with the lower floodplain sections of any river, i.e. powerful current, semi-submerged debris, rapidly changing water levels, submerged island vegetation, the size of the river means a very long swim to shore in freezing cold water in the event of a flip.

I went there a long time ago. There is nothing special, the current is slow, and the river is big. We camped just past the big bridge in a field at Blackville, and hoofed up to the store for reinforcements. No urge to go back at this time. Might be good fishin' if you hit it right, ha ha.

Awesome thanks guys, think i'm gonna reschedule for a mid summer booze cruise. Been too long since i sailed the Chi, last time myself and a friend(Dj Gallant) left the Doaktown bridge at 10 pm on Canada Day evening with a bottle of whiskey and little common sense, barely remember the trip to Blissfield. To add to our youthfull stupidity we hit the bottle again in the morning and decided to paddle up river back to Doaktown (mostly cause we were told we couldn,t). I'll never forget that one hottest day of the year and worst idea ever, only our teenage stubborness forced us on, i was never so happy to see the Doaktown bridge. lol
