Hi all, I want to travel to New Brunswick or northern Maine and take a short canoe trip, 2 nighter. But as usual, I have no idea where I can find a nice river/lake to canoe in, and I now there are many places in the area. I've canoed in the Algonquin, and would love to find something similar in the New Brunswick area. I'll be driving up from Boston, so something close to the Maine/NB boarder would be best for me. We plan on driving around the bay of Fundy afterward.
Thanks for any and all info. Cheers. Steve.

Check out the Chiputneticook Lakes. You can put in at Spednic Prov. Park and find numerous camping sites in Spednic Lake. These lakes are literally straddled by the Canada/U.S. border. You can cross at Vanceboro and be at the park in 5 minutes. You could even put in on the U.S. side and paddle out to many of the islands. If you want to you can also travel down the St. Croix river from Vanceboro. Check out the trip report that can be found on the home page of this site. Enjoy your trip.
