We arrived Friday night at Half Moon and slept, more or less, in the -9C overnight lows. The gauge at Blackville was at 2.0, a great water level. Most rocks covered, but the wave trains weren't so big that they swamped you. There were 7 from our last trip on the Piskahegan, we were missing Hugh and Steph, but luckily picked up Briggs and Rob so we had 9 once again. We were on the water around 930am Saturday, stopped at Slate Island for lunch. We all followed Kyle at Burnthill and he generously lead us over the drop on the left side at the bottom. All were safe, only Dustin and I half filled and nearly swamped delicately balancing our boat over to the bank to empty it. Mitchell and Mike in the Esquif 17ft. Canyon had the easiest time of it because that boat has such a big bow and Mitchell had a bilge pump rigged up. We made to Clearwater around 6pm having covered 45km. The guys brought lots of extra tarps and so we were comfortable despite the drizzle and flurries We awoke Sunday to a dusting of snow, but the temperature was warmer than Friday night so everyone seemed to be in good spirits. Here's the snowline retreating up the hillside later on Sunday morning It was a great trip, great crew of guys. While this is a fairly easy paddle and I'm sure many have made the run "drunk in a Coleman", we still had fun despite the weather because almost everyone had good gear and had packed properly for the trip. I can see the appeal of making this run every year before the crowds show up on the May long weekend. Here's a shot of the crew, Rob taking the picture is missing
