I was up checking out some land near the Eel River this morning and i noticed a great series of ledges at the bailey bridge on what I believe was the Harten Settlement rd. Looked like a great little run.
This section is on the upper part of the river in near Maxwell or 1st Eel Lake.
Does anyone know what the water levels is at now compared to the water level when it is possible to run the Eel. There appears to be quite a bit of water in the river at the momment.

Hey Jamie, The upper eel river can be run pretty well anytime. Just after you get out of the lake there are a couple ledges that need to be portaged. After that it's pretty well flat water all the way to Benton. The Ducks Unlimited dam at Benton keeps the water pretty high throughout the year. If you paddle this stretch take a look to the left when your in the deadwater (near the mouth of the Pokawagami) above Benton. You should be able to see my parents house on Oak Mountain.
Take it easy, Tom
