Looking for someone to paddle with while I'm down on vacation - staying in St Andrews Aug 9-21. Prefer someone with experience, accustomed to covering some distance and comfortable in open water like the PAssamaquoddy. Email me at drideough@yahoo.ca if interested

I could launch the Boston Whaler and tow you across I love to ww kayak, but I've seen that bay, and farther out (St Andrews Bay) get whipped up into a frenzy that I would not attempt with my whaler. It can push around 30' fishing boats like ragdolls. Please take care with the strong currents and listen to the marine forecast before heading out. Anything over 20km/h and you're crazy! By the same token, if the forecast is good, there is awesome stuff to be seen over on Deer Island; free ferry ride over and very picturesque. If you can, make the circuit around Indian Island, just be mindful of the 'Old Sow' whirlpool off Deer Island point.

Guess I should have mentioned, I grew up in St Andrews/St.Stephen area, sailed with StAYC, and quite familiar with the hazards - believe me, I check tides & forecasts very carefully before setting out! D
