The wife and young bundle Jenna, got out on the Nasis Stream for a calm (well the weather and water was calm, and downright hot, but baby, no so much calm) paddle on the Nasis Stream on thursday night. We put in behind the Superstore and headed upstream. Because of the level of the SJ River, the Nasis was quite high here, therefore we couldn't see or pick out any more tires on this stretch. Sorry Ken! I know there is still rubber in there. Although, we did do some river clean-up and recycling. We found a plastic chair for little munchkins so we'll have to clean it up for Jenna. I love finding usable "garbage" on the river.
I did most of the paddle stroking after it was obvious that Jenna was not going to calm down. I can't remember my teeth coming in but if Jenna is any indication of what it was like, I'm glad I can't remember. I'm glad to have such a good partner and mother to calm the babe.
The evening consisted of beautiful overhanging trees with lots of leaf (ve?) sprouting debris and pollen on the calm stretches of water. Very nice. Two minutes from home and you can't even tell you are in the city.
The troop consisted of myself, Jaime and Jenna. The two dogs, Sobby and Trout, got looked over as the water is still chilly and we didn't need them upsetting the boat with a 9 month old passenger. This was Jenna's first trip this year so we didn't want to put a bad taste in her mouth with a cold water dip.
Aside: Along with my comment above, I think it would be fun to start a section that lists the oddest, or weirdest, or best finds of garbage, gear, etc. on the river! what do you think?
Cheers
