Its a little late to be posting this but there will be an Upsalquitch River Appreciation day tomorrow at 1PM at the Upsalquitch/Robinsonville Fire Department. There will be a demonstration of the Jaws of Life, a canoeing demonstration and many booths and exibitors about the Upsalquitch river and other rivers of the Restigouche River watershed. This is the second year of an annual event. I didn't attend last year because I was away, but it is a really neat affair. There is a ton of prizes donated and there will be a raffle for a rod and reel set(can't remember the name but it is a good brand) and two other prizes. The whole event is free, and there are hotdogs, hamburgers and drinks for sale all day. There will also be a live singer in the evening for a campfire sing along!
It's probably too late for anybody from here to attend, but I thought I would post anyway. I should have posted this weeks ago!
Cheers,
Linda

It was a good day for all. there were over a hundred people who attended, there were a ton of prizes that were won(none by me though). there was a story teller for the children. the only 2 bad parts of it were the politicians who showed up and the torrential rain that fell all day. It was cold too but it didn't seem to affect people. there were all kinds of pictures and information handed out, PAWS, DFO, DNRE, and Ducks Unlimited were there. They had monitors set up that showed all kinds of old pictures of things that happened on the river; log drives in the spring, house boats that the first sport fishermen used, the huge salmon that they used to catch and keep, and all the fishing lodges. There was also a fly tying demonstration as well as a guy who builds custom fly fishing rods.
It was an awesome event and shows how much the local people care about our rivers in the area.

That's cool, Linda, thank you.
I haven't been on the Upsalquitch for so long. Maybe next spring, who knows.
