Hi there, I'm planning a trip for three boats to run down the St. Croix this coming weekend ... but I know very little about the river.
We'd like to camp somewhere close to Vanceboro / St. Croix on Friday night ... then put in a good day of paddling on Saturday ... wrapping things up sometime mid-day on Sunday.
Anyone have suggestions as to where to camp and where to "take-out"?
Thanks in advance!

Hi Sean, You should stop by the Mcadam tourist office and pick up a St. Croix Waterway Commission recreational map. It will show you where all the campsites are along the St. Croix (there are a lot). The tourist office is at the train station in Mcadam which is absolutely impossible to miss. On Friday night you could camp at Spednic Prov Park which is about a kilometre up the road (rte 630) that leads to Canterbury. You could even launch at Spednic and then lift over the dam to get into the river. Most people launch at the border crossing just below the bridge. You could take out at Loon Bay Lodge or paddle all the way down to the Grand Falls flowage and take out at the dam. Going all the way to Grand Falls will take two full days of paddling.
Enjoy your trip, Tom
