Has anyone run the Tetagouche River up by Bathurst? It looks gnarly, with falls and gorges, and a fair drop along its run.

Would you put in at one of the Tetagouche Lakes? It looks like about a 50k run from Upper Tetagouche Lake. Tom

Yes, I've read bits about paddling on the lakes. As you exit the lakes, there are falls, rapids, then a gorge. And then there is Tetagouche Falls halfway to Bathurst. At least that's what I can discern from map reading.

Wow, sounds like a great little river. I look forward to reading your trip report if you decide to run it. Take care, Tom

Well sure, Tom. Wanna come with me? That's usually the sticking point. Ken I'd love to come with you. However, I am stuck in Toronto until August 1. I'll probably run the Croix then and re-do my trip on the Chip Lakes (explore a bit more). Have you had any luck finding info. about the Palfrey Stream? I'm thinking of running the Palfrey from Skiff lake one of these springs. Take it easy, Tom

No, I haven't done any more research. Might get there later. It's just another one of those what-if trips that lurk just under the surface. Gotta get there when the water's right, all the planets are lined up in conjunction and the moon is in the right phase.
It looks like there's a rough stretch at the outlet of Skiff if you trust the old topo maps.

ya I know what you mean about lining up those planets and you still haven't dealt with that friggin moon. that's why I've always been in favor of the less is better approch when it comes to planning.
