As many of you may have read, jmadore and myself dumped in the narrows on the chi and lost our gear. Fortunately for me, a couple of great guys drug my canoe out for me. She's got a few dings but she'll float. The guys who pulled it out weren't able to salvage the gear but they were able to put it up on the shore on the right hand side of the river somewhere between McKeil and burnt hill. We have a proposal for anyone floating that river anytime soon. If anyone is willing to try to salvage some key pieces of our gear, we'd be willing to pay a couple of hundred bucks or more. If anyone is interested please let me know. We just don't have the experience to go down ourselves. The other rookies we went with won't even consider getting back on the water.

Hey Dave, I'm going down the Miramichi on the June 2 weekend. If I see your gear I'll pick it up. I'll put a post on this forum listing anything that I've found. I'll include my e-mail. Happy paddling, Tom

palmer,
Thanks for the offer. Where would you put in and take out? jmadore called everyone he could about getting into some of those private camps but no one would give him the gate keys. Apparently Irving owns the access road to burnt hill, and wouldn't let us through. I'd love to hear your plan though. When would we do this?

Sounds good palmer,
I'm working on getting a vehicle, will a two wheel drive Dakota get us there or do we need 4x4? I'm at work now but I'll call you at 5:00 if you'll be around.

don;t sweat the 4x4. i have 1. you pay the gas and we can use mine. its been years since i was in the roads but i;d bet a regular 4x2 would be just fine.

First of all, thanks to palmer for floating the chi with me on Saturday and helping me pull out a few things. Unfortunately most of our stuff was not on the shore where palmer had left it... but...
Sunday we got a call from Terry (Terri?) in New Maryland. He said he had pulled out everything else on Friday. We had no identification with our gear (I know, very stupid), but Terry reviewed my digital video camera, which somehow managed to survive, got a license plate number, ran it with a cop buddy, and got a hold of us. Pretty resourceful fella. And he wouldn't take any money. What a guy!
Can't wait for next year. I met a pile of good people this year, thanks to all of them.

Dave,
We look forward to you and Jason joining us again. It's not this bad every year, just every one out of 12.
And now that your canoes got a few dings in it there's no holding back ! Pete

Do me a favor-its the Miramichi--NOT THE "CHI"
Don't want to be too crabby but that really grates on me.
Thanks
