I've decided to swallow my pride and show you how I screwed up several hours of work on my canoe-seat. Note the mesh in the upper right corner where I failed to overlap correctly. I swear it was getting dark and I had to hurry my work!. Jump in! You might influence my decision! Ken

if it feels good on the arse i'd leave it, unless i had lots of free time and a strong desire for perfection. if i was doing a full restoration on a wood-canvas then i would either strive for perfection or buy it. but for a daily driver practicality takes over.

I think Kyle got it right..... if it feels good and does the job I wouldn't worry about appearance.
Both my seats rottted out.... I spent $40 bucks getting the 1st one redone. The other seat got the old duck tape repair job, doesn't look pretty but sure does the job.

It will be interesting to see if the edges of the holes cause the webbing to fray. Why not cut a slot between every second hole to accept the webbing? It might even improve the appearance. However, I agree with the guys above; if it is comfortable don't mess with it. Take it easy,
Tom

It was so beauthiful out today that I went out and fixed the seat webbing. Here's what it looks like now. It took about an hour or so to redo it, not so bad when the sun is shining, it's warm (for December) and there are no bugs. I still need to whittle 24 plugs for the left-over holes. Might take a while, but it is winter. Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it. I am much happier now that the pattern is symmetrical. Ken

Ken,
I would have added a third option to the poll:
"I'm going to aim for perfect and settle with whatever else happens"
I've been coming to terms with some major screwups on my restore, and as kermit says, it ain't easy being green.
