Anyone interested in day-tripping Little River on Saturday? I drove by on highway 10 last night and it still looks pretty high. If we get a little more rain today, hopefully she'll hold her level. I think me and briggs are going to try to get out there. We haven't worked out all the shuttling details yet... but I'm sure they'll fall into place.

Use the Slope Road for the shuttle. You'll need a 4x4 to get down the last five miles, because NB Coal does not maintain the last stretch down to the river. It would be handy to use a driver who knows the way, of course.
If you come in from the Nashwaak side, the shuttle is four times as long.

You've done this run before too eh? We actually usually go in through the rock road off highway 10. It connects with the slope road entrance somewhere. We have done this in the past without a 4x4 but you are right, it would be good to have one. We usually run this river every long weekend in May, this year we did the Miramichi. I missed doing it though, so I'm trying to work something out. We've got a truck, but I think we've lost our rack.

Dave,
Where is the little river anyways? We're doing the Tay tonight after work. We checked it and looks like it's at a nice level. Got 3 boats loaded on top of my trcuk waiting for us to get off work. Pete

Little river is about half way between Minto and Fredericton (well the take-out anyway). You can access it from the highway to Minto or through Durham, or through the slope road in Minto. Nice river, a few camps the closer you get to the highway. We're trying to get mr. madore on board this weekend too.
I did the Tay with mitchell and kyle a couple of weeks back. The water wasn't quite high enough, despite the downpour. That was my first solo attempt in a canoe. I slowed those guys down with my big yellow discovery and lack of experience but it was fun. The ledges near the end were cool, although I was a little timid at first. I'd like to try it again sometime when the water is higher.

Ah Dave I know who you are now. And that's why the Little River sounded familiar, I did some work on that back when I was with structures branch at DOT.
Palmer and Tony and I will have to join you another time. Would love to get out with you though sometime. This weekend the girlfriend is moving here from NH to start work this monday so I'll be a bit calmer than usual.
Later, Pete
