Knowing this to be definitely a spring river and one that gets low fast, I still decided to press ahead. My son wanted to go that day, but the river decision was mine. I told myself it "can't be that bad yet" It was. Long story short; 10 hours of brutal slogging on what is a 4 hr run during good conditions. I actually considered jettisoning our gear at the halfway point just to lighten the load. I was severely reminded that I'm not 24. On the good side, we saw some interesting sights of nature & I now have a contact number for a local who lives near the Burpee Bridge.I can call him anytime to see if it's passable. (not that I'll revisit it anytime soon). He was so incredulous to see us coming down the home stretch at 8:30 that night, that he had to come down and talk to us. If anyone wants the contact let me know. On the very good side, my son and I spent a day together in a way we haven't in a few years, and canoeing (or slogging a river) is one of the best ways to connect in my opinion. I can still say that any day is a good day, on the river!
