A Chestnut Deer that I took to the United Kingdom a few years ago that I picked up from Jamie up in Fredericton has passed on to a new owner. The new owner is convinced that he needs to sand the whole thing down and is looking for Original Chestnut decals.
The ones that were on it were the ones that said Oromocto on them and not Fredericton so that is what he wants. I am sure that I can convince him that Fredericton ones are just as good.
Would Great Spirit have any tucked away in a desk some place? It seems that the last time I was there there was one on a desk.

I had an Oromocto decal at one point Lloyd, will look around to see if i still have it.
Staying with the authentic Oromocto decal would be considered the the proper thing to do so as not to mislead people as to where and when the canoe was made.

Found the original Lloyd, I'm going to see how much it would cost to make some replicas as they may be nice to have. If i don't get replicas made then you can send my original over. Attachments:

I let Nigel know today. We are still looking for another one as well but I think a couple of reproductions are just as good.
I have a friend in Moncton that does vinyl signs and he can do small orders for a buck or so each on clear vinyl.

Decal has been sent out for replication assuming it can be done for a decent price. Also getting a bunch of "Fredericton" ones made if I can.

Not yet Lloyd, bad timing on getting decals made as the person that will be making them is on a cruise down south for a week. Should know next week.
They shouldn't be to much, likely give you two repos for free if they turn out.

I'd be interested in knowing how you make out with the decals Jamie , also , I'd like to pick up a couple of pounds of nails from you sometime over the winter .

I have an original large decal aswell Kevin, think they used to put them on the side at the front of some larger flatback canoes. If you need one you can have mine or maybe we can make some repo`s aswell. I`ll never have a large canoe to put it on. Still have tacks and canvas, haven`t had time this yr to do anything canoe related. I'd be interested in knowing how you make out with the decals Jamie , also , I'd like to pick up a couple of pounds of nails from you sometime over the winter .

Decals came in, look pretty good. They are on vinyl as opposed to the traditional "watermark or water transfer" but they will get the job done. Lloyd, if you still want 2 let me know (email me or sotp message). Kevin i'll throw a couple in with some tacks if you choose to buy some. The Fredericton one's are simply an altered copy of the Oromocto decal. Not quite a duplicate of an original Fredericton decal but again it will get the job done. I have a small number of each. Cost me about $3 each and will sell them for the same amount. Just had them made to see how they would turn out and get an idea of price. Attachments:

my cousin used to work for the provincial archive at UNB. I bought some Chestnut decals there a few years back. they had the ones for the side of the boat and the deck. Give them a call. They had a large Chestnut display at the time.

I just called them. $9 deck logo $15 for the written "chestnut" decal and $15 for a larger version of the deck logo. when you go in the building on campus from the street there is a cabinet or chest that is on the right hand side of the door and they are in there.
Lucky they still have some eh ! Pete
