I have been wanting to read this book for a few years now. Borrowed it from Mitchell last week, finished yesterday. one of, if not the best book i ever read. one of those books when you set it down you cant wait to pick it up again. if you didn't know it was true you would swear it was fiction. only problem now is any other canoe adventure book i read will seem like an overnight trip in comparison. on the bright side though, on any future trips i take that may seem tough will feel a lot easier when i think back on this book.

Yeah, I agree. I was lucky my brother met him at a book signing and got an autographed copy for me.
I guess he went on a polar expedition and suffered severe frostbite, never was the same after that. I try to avoid hardship trips nowadays.

If you liked that try some of Colin Angus's books, more kayak and rowing related but tons of crazy adventures. Lost in Mongolia is one of my favorite books.

Kyle, have you read "Great Heart", or anything of Mina Hubbard and her story? Great read, true story.
