River addict and i paddled these brooks yesterday afternoon. we put in off the zionville rd. on mckenzie. and followed that through to youngs brook. we took out where the brook flows into the nashwaak. not a bad run, a few logs to power over a few sweepers to drag over and an old bridge to drag around just past the new highway bridge under construction. not as thrilling as we would of thought from the topo info. the current and grade are pretty constant. at this level there was plenty of water, once the streams merge there were some nice little wave trains, nothing morre than 3 feet . a nice little ledge under the bridge were rte. 8 crosses but no monster drops or huge waves that we hoped for. still nice to do some new water, we had been eying this one for a while now

I've been looking at a stream in that neck of the woods too, Cross Creek, actually. My buddy Mr. Intrepid and Rick Bastido ran this a few, few years back from the bridge out past Stanley towards Taxis River.
There is a good trail from the bridge to the spot where the two branches meet to form the main Creek, about 350 steps in from the road by the bridge, an ATV track.
Looking downstream from the forks:
Then a shot from the bridge, looking downstream:
There were some carry-overs when they went, and a fall about halfway down to the Nashwaak. I don't have a picture of that.
Here's a shot of it at its mouth into the Nashwaak:

I ran both of these so I thought I would answer- Youngs is about 1/2 the size of Cross Creek and about 2m/km steeper. I enjoyed Cross Creek more and will definitely do it again. Putting in at Route 625 for Cross Creek also makes it twice as long as Youngs. ~20km for CC vs ~10km for Youngs. There are two ledges which may cause problems on CC- one is about 1/2 way between the first and second railway bridges, and the other is right below the second. Besides that, there was lots of woody debris and pushy corners in the upper section, plus a few pushy corners in the lower section with some nice waves.....
Oh, water levels were: Youngs Brook- April 25: Nashwaak 20.25, Narrows Mountain 5.60, Nas'is Stream at Sandwith's 0.75 Cross Creek- April 29: Nashwaak ??- gauge is out, Narrows 5.45, Nas'is Stream 0.55
