We were deep in the Miramichi woods on the Bartholomew river. I was trying to dry out my tush, standing with my back to the campfire. A spark ignited the rubber on my left sneaker, and the flame shot up my pant leg in a flash. Thankfully Laurie spotted it instantly, I dropped and rolled, and he stomped out the flames. I caught a blister burn the size of a beer can on my lower calf. I was able to dress it, and it ached for the next two days down to Blackville, but not too bad. I went to emergency, they cut away the dead skin. I have to apply ointment and change the dressing every day until it heals. Moral: Don`t stand with your back to the campfire. Jeez, you think I would know better...... Ken

Thanks for the warning. A good lesson for all of us an to the importance of having a good first aid kit on hand as well as keeping up on basic first aid training skills. Wishing you well... Ron
