What's a good day run in Fred'n area even when water is low (as is now)? What's lower Nashwaak (Taymouth or Durham bridge down to Fred'n) like in low water What are possibilities for lower Oromocto (Tracy down) in low water? Looking for a lazy, "drinking" day run without having to do a lot of paddling. May just say screw it, saddle up and hit the Restigouche

I was by the Nashwaak yesterday and it looked like quite a bit of water from the rain the other night. Would have been nice to go for a paddle instead of working 14 hrs straight because of a guy and his chainsaw....

a good day run in fredericton is on the st john river. put in at the old crocks point ferry, drive towards the mactaquack dam on the old tch. about 1k before the kingsclear first nation there will be a dirt road at a 30 degree angle from the highway. down this road is the old ferry site. shortly after putting in you can stay straight or hang a right and go under a bridge, this route will take you around a large island towards keswick before joining back up with the main stream. usually see a lot of eagles here. there are a number of takeout options, one on a dirt road of the tch that crosses the walking trail near tim hortons. or for a longer trip you can take out on the northside on the green. it is a pretty nice little trip with a lot of islands to explore around and a nice fast current for a few k

There's not alot of traffic on the Restigouche yet, but I'm assuming with the nice weather this weekend, there will be hoards of people on 'er. The official start to the craziness for the season.
NW Upsalquitch is looking nice right now. Water levels are dropping, but rocks are easily avoidable. Not a canoe in sight either. We're heading there next weekend.

Decided on the last minute (literally) to go for the Restigouche. Despite it being a long weekend with amazing weather it was virtually empty!! Unbelievable. Worth the travelling +/- 80kms in 2 days is a lot though...

I just did my first run yesterday on the Naswaak. Put in just below Penniac Bridge and pulled out just below Marysville Bridge. Maybe a 5-6 km trip. Took about an hour. With the rain of the previous couple days, made for a nice trip. Well, until I hit the "old Marsyville Dam". Dumped her. Definitely got the heart rate up! Swam it to the closest small island and got as much water out as I could, then continued. I guess you're supposed to keep to the right thru the rapids there? Can anyone with experience confirm that? Being a novice kayaker (been out maybe a half dozen times over the past 10 yrs), I would certainly be curious to get out on the Nashwaak with some folks who have some more experience. Happy paddlin' folks!
