Luke and myself put in just below the Barton rips about 6:30 pm Thursday night. We were totally pumped to be on the water even though it was a tad chilly out. After a hour of paddling We were able to find a camp site that suited our needs. This was a really nice peaceful section of the river. Broke camp around 8am the next day and what a ride. Being unfamiliar with this river we ended run The north branch falls unscouted. Definitely the crazy water either of us have run. It felt like 15k of nothing but crazy swells sharp corners and sweeper dodging. Luke did get taken out by a sweeper so he did get a little cold early on in the day. There was always a clear path but I felt some of it was a little technical. Props to all of the people that canoe this river at high water I don't know how you would. No really fast water pics as we were to busy paddling for our lives not even time to stop for a beverage. Some pics here community.webshots.com/album/577221598SuMahY To date this was the best trip ever

I had a crew who also went from Barton rapids on April 2nd 2010. We did a day trip into Tracy - where I am from. Did you see a red Toyota Tacoma at the drop off? Funny we never ran across each others vehicle. The water was really high and fast - I remember, no chance of hitting any rocks, but hard to keep the water out of the boat!

Thats way funny we were on there and did not see each other... We did end up getting lost in the alders below the Ftn Junction bridge...Probably spent like 3 hours paddling trying to find our car. Man it was super nice weather last year on that weekend:)
