Hey, I'm new to the forum and relatively new to canoeing around Fredericton. I'm looking to possibly run the Rusagonis on Friday and was wondering if anyone had any info on the put in/takeout locations. Also, is it possible to link the north and south runs together? From what I've heard the south run is only 8km, so if it's possible to extend the day a bit that would be ideal. Can't wait to get out for the first run of the season .

Welcome Graham. The South Rusagonis is a nice day run if you put in off the O'leary Rd and take out at the covered bridge. It is about 15kms long. There may be a few sweepers in the beginning to watch out for. Also there are some ledges near the end of the trip. There is a portage trail on river right if you choose not to run them. Have fun.

To run the North Branch of the 'Gornish', you can put in just above the bridge at "Covered Bridge Estates" (lots of parking and easy put-in).
Another (more adventurous) option is to put-in at the little bridge on the Charter's Settlement road ... decent parking on the lefthand side of the road just as you turn off of Charter's onto Phillips Road. The first four or five KM of this run will be super-narrow ... at times, you'll be able to hit both shores with your paddle.
Best place to take-out is the Covered Bridge but you can add another 45 minutes of flat-water paddling (swampy) if you go to next bridge (on Rusagonis Rd, closer to Oromocto).
Have fun!

Thanks for the info, it was a great day out, lots of sun, and quite a few other canoes. Looking forward to many more days like it!
