I saw a crew of 4 with two canoes taking out of the Nasis stream at the bend on the highway towards douglas tonight. It looked high and nice. Me and my buddy actually paddled the rapid section under the stone bridge on sunset drive two weekends ago... I think it was the only section open, so we went eddy hopping. Tonight is was looking great with loads of great waves!
I've also been talking with my paddling partners in charlotte county, and the digdeguash is open and great, it's already been paddled last weekend. I'm hoping to make a run down it this weekend.

I can tell you that Aroostook, Shogomoc and Nasis Stream are all good as of a few days ago. Mispec and Black around Saint John are good from other reports. You wouldn't want canoes on Shog, Mispec or Black. Water on the head wasn't that bad on the Shogomoc considering it usually hovers around freezing year round.

I am heading out this weekend on the Big Bartibog in Miramichi. My father ran a short run last week and said the water wasn't overly high for the time of year. The weather is supposed to be around 10 degrees and sunny; can't wait to take my kayak for its first real run!
Were estimating 4- 6 hours.

Wow, I always wanted to float the Bartibog. I suspect it's more of a fishing stream. Let us know how you make out, fletch!

Didn't end up running the Big Bartibog, as the water levels were much too high for my experience.
I did, however, go on a couple runs in the Main Miramichi in the center of the city on slack tide. It was a really nice rip around on the big water. I plan on running the Hammond this weekend from Smithtown to French Villange. I will yas posted.
Yes Ken, the Bartibog is a great fishing river (trout and fall salmon) and is a nice float during medium to low water levels.

Running the Hammond River from Smithtown Bridge to French Village by the highway (roughly 10 km) tomorrow or Sunday depending on the weather.
Anyone run this stretch before? Can't wait to get out and paddle on some moving water!!!

Ran the Hammond today, from Smithtown, roughly 5-6 km. It took about an hour, as the water was quite hight. It was my first time on a river in my wife and our new kayaks. It was pretty fun! Weather was not too bad, but it rained a bit in the middle of the run.
I seen a truck with 2 long kayaks and a car with a shorter one go up to Damascus. Wonder how they made out.
This was a great run for a beginner like myself. I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a simple nice, not to complicated run.
Trying to find another run for tomorrow in the Saint John area. Any ideas?
