Hi, I am looking for a Chestnut canoe and/or some Chestnut canoe artifacts for a soon to be re-opened artist-run centre in Fredericton. Gallery Connexion's new gallery and studio space is in the old Chestnut canoe factory on York Street. We are interested in damaged bits and pieces of a chestnut canoe for an artist installation that is happening the first couple of weeks of February. Jose Luis Torres is a sculptor from Quebec who will be building a sculpture in the main gallery space out of 'found' artifacts. We thought it would be nice to pay homage to the buildings roots in Torres' piece. Secondly we are looking for someone who owns an intact Chestnut canoe who we can negotiate with to acquire the canoe for a fundraiser. If anyone out there can help me with this please reply to this thread. No lead is too tenuous to follow. Thanks, John MacDermid President, Gallery Connexion www.galleryconnexion.ca

Hi John,
I have an amazing pair of vintage Chestnut snowshoes in brilliant shape. It's no canoe, but I'd be happy to share if this would be fitting with the show.
Cheers

David,
This is great. I learned just last week that Chestnut made snow shoes and would definitely be interested in having a pair for the show. We're still in the planning stages for this so I don't have a firm time line for the show. can you send me an email to Jayemdee@gmail.com so I have a more direct way to follow-up with you when the time comes?
Cheers, John
