Lots of options in NB my galatic empire soldier friend. You're going to need some water to run anything other than the St. Croix for now though. Read the trip reports on this site as well as Ken Corbett's site nanookofthenashwaak.com. We have lots of options, and your Yukon's a good boat for almost all of them. If you're based in Saint John it's a bit longer drive to many of them. The Magaguadavic, Digdeguash, and Polett rivers are closest I think. Happy paddling.

Yes, check out the Digdeguash as was suggested. I paddle different sections at a time in my playboat for good day paddles. It would definitely be a 2-3 day excursion to paddle the whole thing. There is some intense sections for whitewater, possibly even a class 5 depending on water levels. The majority of whitewater sections are class 3 and 4, and in between has some fun class 2-3 waves to have some fun. The very last falls that empties into the passamaquoddy bay is gnarly, this could beat the nuts out of any paddler... as of yet I've only heard of a dog going over it! And it survived. I'm heading there today to check out a section I've never run, just found out about it the other week.
Let me know if you ever want more info on this gem of a river, I have loads of photos and even some footage... I can even let you know of some secret creeks that flow into it.
I'd say this river is only an hour away from St.John.
Have you met up with all the boater in St.John yet? Lots of good guys kayak there, and they charge some intense creeks if you're into that.
Top of the boot!

eel river is a great extended season run. huge bog drainage basin upstream retains and drain slow. it is a reliable fall runner on years like this.
I came the closest I have ever been to death on this river (in the water). The falls are wicked.

I've had a friend of mine tell me a story of his near death experience on this as well... He also told me a story about some military fellas that weren't so lucky some years back. I've seen footage of some sections on youtube... definitely looks like an awesome paddle!

Has anyone ever ran this in a canoe?

Paul Hill and Ian Campbell have run the Shogomoc. I know Ian's handle on this board is liquidmonkey, give him a message or email here.
I ran the upper stretch once, real boggy and windblown. Don't go there.
