Hi all,
I am looking for some sage advice about paddling the Dungarvon the first weekend in June. This is a fishing trip and I am responsible for the planning, so I want to get this right. People are skipping work for this one!!!
It seems that from the bridge off the Holtville Rd to Furlong Bridge is ~45km. Does that sound right? Would it make sense for 2 long days (1 overnight a few kms past Ledgie Landing)? Also, how is the fishing along that stretch and what kind of beer does The Whooper prefer?
As for the Cains, that is really a backup plan if we do not get much rain in the next 2 weeks. Plus, we did it last year and it was great! Probably do 123 Rd to Sabies River if we do it this year.
cheers...jkurek

jkurek, Just did cains from 123 bridge to Shinnickburn on sunday. Water still running good. Low in some places but big stretches of deeper water. Water went down alot over the weekend and was told alot of canoes ran it this weekend. Didnt fish much, but was told the trout arent running yet. Good day on the water.

Yes 45 kms sounds right from Holtville to Furlong Bridge. The section from Holtville Rd to ledgie landing is typically a whitewater run and usually has to be run in early spring when the water is high. I'm not sure you would have enough water right now but I think you would have enough from ledgie landing and below. Perhaps put in here and take out at the bridge on the renous just below where the Dungarvon empties. This would be just over 45 kms as well. Have fun.

Hi Mitchell,
After speaking with Jackie from O'Donnells, he more or less said the same thing given the little rain we have had in the last few weeks. We also have some guys in "Canoe B" who are green and I do not want anyone to spill their beers. Looks like it is Ledgie to the bridge on the Renous off the Lockstead Rd.
I will post our adventure. Really looking forward to this one!
