I suspect the water level in the Cains can be compared to the level in the Main Southwest Miramichi at the guage in Blackville. Go to : www.nanookofthenashwaak.com/levels.shtmland see what paddlers said about navigability at various levels on the Blackville guage. Then go to scitech.pyr.ec.gc.ca/waterweb/formnav.asp?lang=0 select the SOUTHWEST MIRAMICHI RIVER AT BLACKVILLE (01BO001) to compare the real-time level of this guage to the comments. If you do go, let us know how you made out, so others can have some more info in the future to make the decision you are facing now. Good luck! Ken

thanks Ken. the trip is a go come hell or high water. i will post the results when we finish. we have not paddled this river before and info is hard to come by. also I have a very old chestnut guides special, minus the canvas that I do not have the time to restore, and will let this boat go at a very reasonable price, provided it is going to some one who will do the old girl justice. if anyone is interested let me know via this board and we will parly.

Hi. I might be interested in your chestnut. Am poor but love canoes and wooden boats. Mike 455-4198
