ok, newbie here, I have done a few minor day or afternoon trips...all lasting between 1 hr to 4 hrs.
but I wana plan a trip for next spring/summer.
Something relaxing, so here is what I thought. get a few Friends together and some camping gear and put in at the Princess Margaret Bridge in Fredericton, and basically end up in Jemseg in the back yard of one of our friends.
according to some maps, it is about 50 KM.
anyone got any idea how long that would take? we figure 3 days of paddling. is that unreasonable? try to get on water by 9-10am and off at 6-7 with maybe a total of 1 hr off for pee breaks and food and what not.
won;t be paddling the whole time. more or less a relaxing trip where we just float and paddle maybe 1 hr every 2-3 hrs.
does that sound possible? or do you think it sounds completely off for timing?
I'm new and never done anything like this before...this is why we chose that river..as we will be in cell phone range the whole time for help.

2-3 days sounds reasonable, assuming you don't get windbound. A rule of thumb I use is 20km of paddling per day on flat water.
If you are looking for a good flat water trip you should check out the Chiputneticook Lakes. Spednic Lake is just outside of McAdam which is less than an hour from Freddy Beach.
Enjoy your trip.

the wind coming up the st. john might interfere with your drifting plans a bit, If you plan on not doing a lot of padling you may want to shorten up your km to a number you wouldn't mind padling. On the other hand you might luck out and have a nice tailwind the whole way,
