I'm looking for a good put-in above Stanley for a day run soon. going to Fredericton and my son and i will have time for a day sail somewhere handy. is there a good spot above there that would make a few hour trip to Stanley? Or if anyone can suggest something else they know. thanks.

Giant's Glen would be a good spot for a put-in. It's below the Irving dam and the rapids below. Two, maybe three hours to Stanley. Take the road that leads from Stanley on the north bank along the river, not the road to Williamsburg. There are rapids between the Stanley Bridge and the next bridge downstream, class 1-ish for a few miles. As always, proceed at your own risk.
You might even put in up by the end of the Killarney Road and paddle to Fredericton. That's a good five to six hour leisure paddle, no rough water, maybe the old dam site in Marysville but that's it.

The mouth of the Nashwaak was still froze up today. We paddled from Carleton Park down to a buddy's place on Lincoln road just to be out for a couple hours, nice easy floating on the big wide river (in kayaks so the wind wasn't an issue)

Thanks Guys, we'll probably put-in at the Giant's Glen area, I've paddled from Stanley to the bridge before, so altogether should be a nice run. thanks!
