So now that we are slowly getting closer to open waters, what is on everyone's list of rivers and lakes to paddle this summer?
My number one goal this year is the Nepisiguit. I've been talking about this river for years. As for lakes, I would really like to try the Keji in July or August.

This year I am going to attempt (in June) a run down the rarely paddled Palfrey Stream. Ken asked me about this stream a few years ago and the idea of giving it a go has been bouncing around my head ever since.
I'll probably put in at my Uncle's cottage on Skiff Lake and paddle all the way down to Palfrey Lake.
Anyone out there ever paddle this stream before?
Of course I'll also spend a weekend running the Miramichi.
Take it easy, Tom

The Nepisiguit first week of June Probably try to get in the upper Nashwaak in April although my wives due date is April 19, so maybe I am having a pipe dream there. Looking to hit the North Oromocto, Miramichi not sure what one, and the St Croix in fall. Also would like to do the Hope Well rocks this year, and as many booze Cruz's down the lower Nashwaak as possible.

Sounds cool, Tom. Need company? I think there is some rough water after the Long Sluice deadwater. The contour lines are pretty close together.I talked to a couple of Scout leaders ten years ago who said they had paddled it, but who knows where they were, really.

Hey Ken, I have spoken to people who have run it and they say the fast water is not too bad. I have actually explored that area with an ATV and have taken a look at the stream at various points along it's length. The stream below the deadwater is quite narrow so it looks like you could just walk down the rapids if you had to. Apparently there are many beaver dams along the deadwater stretch which will need to be negotiated also.
I am planning this trip as part of a larger trip through the Chiputneticook Lakes. I basically plan to start at Skiff Lake and end up at North Lake 4 or 5 days later. I have been planning this as a solo trip but if you wish to come along for part or all of the trip you are more than welcome. I can easily start the trip on a weekend if you just want to do the Palfrey Stream portion. Once I have the exact dates worked out I'll let you know. Tom

Well, I'm hoping to actually get out in the canoe this summer! Last year, they sat in the shed all summer, never seeing the light of day.
We'll hopefully do the NW Upsalquitch a few times. I'd also like to do a spring or fall trip on the Restigouche. I haven't been near that river in well over 6-7 years due to summer crowds. Even a middle of the week trip during the summer might be nice. We'll have to see.
Can't wait to see the clear waters of the Upsalquitch poking through the ice because that means spring is on it's way!

My top three would be; Tabusintac River (maybe hit that from the Big Eskedelloc), South Renous River down to McGraw Brook and for a little later...Tuadook Lake thru Tuadook River to the Little Southwest Miramichi. If any one is looking to get on any of those areas give me a shout sometime.....

I'd be up for either renous or tuadook river. Both look fun to me. Let me know when you are planning.

Where are you putting in on the South Renous? There is a fall and rough water not too far down from the plaster-rock-renous highway. Kayakers run this stretch.

Hey Mitchell, i will give you a heads up when i'm going..Renous would have to be earlier and Tuadook can be a later season deal...
Ken, I'll be putting in at the 2nd bridge as it's called...off the Plaster Rock-Renous Hwy. I know there is some nasty stuff early on, thanks for the tip. I do know a few lads who have run it and only one broke his canoe in two!!!

PS
I wouldn't mind making a trip to Indian Falls Depot (Nepisiguit) and spend a day making a few runs on Indian Falls. that could be any time of year depending on the water levels

Since you have the Nepisiguit River planned for June, do you have the name and number of the person who will ferry your vehicles. I am also planning a June trip on the Nepisiquit
