Hello everyone..I have some questions about the river. I'm new to all of this and have a few questions.
Is it fun and safe to canoe the Magaguadavic this time of year?
Is there a way I could find out about the water levels?
I just need to know the basics for now.
We planned to go to St. Croix but may consider canoing the Magaguadavic instead.

A few more questions...
Where is a good place to put in and take out?
How long does it take to canoe the river?
My friends are new to canoing, will they be able to make it through? I'm sure it's depending on the spots, just trying to get some ideas.

I drove over the Route 3 bridge at tomaston corner on Monday, and the water was too low for paddling. There is a dam at the lake, and there is no way of knowing when the owners plan to release water.
There are rocky stretches above the bridge, swamps and deadwaters for miles and miles until past Pomeroy, and "rough" rapids and rips down to Second Falls. Not my fave stream.

Hmm..I was thinking about the Miramichi but it's a long drive. Any other places you would recommend?

st Croix was a really nice trip last weekend. Just stick to the canadian side if you are worried, And I think The Americans are more worried about other stuff right now. joel

Jamie and I ran the Maguadavic this spring with the gauage reading around 1.35 at Elmcroft. I don't think you would want to run much lower than this. It is running at almost 1.2 right now. You may or may not have enough water. Like Ken said, there are many long deadwater sections with a few tricky rapids between them. You can always run the nashwaak too. Have fun
