Fairly new here but did the st Croix this weekend Ran into Mitchell at little falls some pics of him and his crew. River was at stage 5.05 flow 636 I would say a little low as we got lots of scrapes on our kayaks but we are fairly new to the addiction. We did rent a OT sport JOLT 11.6 kayak from Eco Logic in Ormoncto very nice fellow but if you scratch it he WILL charge you more when you bring it back, Intentional or not. Anyways the Jolt did good but sucked in flat slow water. It did have a squib that you could lower in slow deep water that did improve its tracking but i would not recommend if you do more than 10% flat water. Very stable great in rapids, Great storage capacity for up too two nights trip. My Old town Castine was awesome but did get lots of scratches. Very nice river clean camp sites. Would do again but I think me and Luke would like something a little more challenging. GR8 canoe trip though. Still good in a kayak. community.webshots.com/album/565320642eforkf

Nice pics.
I'd suggest renting from some of the outfitters around the St. Croix. They are use o a few scratches on the boats and don't care.Sounds like the guy you rented from rents to people paddling the St. John or other flat water where you don't hurt the boats. Also, Old Town kayak's, especially Loon's are better designed for a flat/white water paddling ( I know, I own 2 Loons and an Adventure). Alan
