Well, let me put the first message in this folder. Take a look at this big tire, which lies in three feet of water just upstream of the bridge over the Nashwaak, right-hand channel: It's just too big for me to remove by myself. I need two or three volunteers to help me twitch it out, load into the back of my car (or your half-ton) and drive to the service station, where it will be picked up and hauled to the tire recycling plant in Minto. The water is very low now, so it is more accessible than usual. Plus the water's warm and clean. We will need a rope, perhaps a hook, and maybe a shovel. I can bring a shovel and rope. We'll also need a photographer, because I will want to post this on the web, with all participants in the image. Any takers? Ken

Depending on the time etc, I may be able to lend a hand. If I'm able, I should be able to bring a camera and tripod.

Let's aim for 6:00 Wednesday evening. It gets dark earlier nowadays.
If not, what about Saturday morning, say 9:00? We won't be rushed by nightfall, and we will still have the rest of the day for dittins. I think this would be easier to do.
Thoughts?

Kyle, kenmcdnb,
There's a parking lot by the bridge over the Nashwaak, with access to the shore just downstream from where the tire lies. I'll meet you there at 9:00. I may not bring my boat, as I don't think it's needed, but feel free to bring yours if you wish.
All are welcome, it's a big tractor tire and will take some muscle to remove, I suspect.
How about you, kenmcdnb? Is that a good time for you?

I think so, I'll see what the boss has planned. We are generally out running around on Saturday morning. The weatherman is saing 10 mm of rain tomorrow, and rain again for Saturday. Rain never hurt anyone that much though Ken (also)

Hi Guys,
I guess that I can't get there on Sat AM. I'll watch here, and if you aren't able to get it, and want to try again, I'll try for then.

Ken,
Please confirm you are talking about the west end of the bridge over the nashwaak on Main street or union or whatever it is called down there. Between the Fort Nashwaak Motel and the walkingtrail eh ?

Yes, Pete, it is across the road from where the huge oil tanks used to be, there is a landing down to the river from the parking lot. I biked across the bridge today, I couldn't see the tire because it is a few metres upstream and the water is choppy. But it is there. I will see you and Kyle and Reverend and aybody else Saturday morning at 9:00.
I suspect I'll have to wade out to it. I have a stout hook we can tie a rope to and haul it out, then drive it down to the Princess Margaret mainway Irving and park it behind the garage in their old tire pile. It'll be hauled to the tire recycling plant in Minto.
At least, that's how I see this unfolding.
Pete, that phone # you gav me, 363-5820, was a wrong number.
