I've got a boat that is in need of some canvas but I've never done the job myself. I've got a guy down in New Hampshire, where I travel to every few weeks, who will recanvas for 3-400$ range. Anyone know of someone local who does a competant job?
Also, are those guys down at Spirit in Oromocto still around? I don't want to goto them, just wondering if they made a go of it or not. Thanks ! Pete

Don Fraser, a former employee at the Chestnut factory, is building and restoring Chestnuts on 174 Woodstock Road, close to the Delta. He's in the book, 454-2127. He built my Ogilvy 16, and I am pleased.

Ken,
I imagine you are pleased! Don is a legend. I'll check with him but I imagine he charges. May be worth it as I imagine he's using the original Chestnut canvas filler formula. Thanks! Pete

I just called Don Fraser to see about getting new gunwales on my boat and he basically said he was not into restorations anymore, just building new canoes.
He sounded like a nice guy and would likely do work for someone if you were really persistant.... i'll likely just go elsewhere.
