So a few buddies of mine have wacked the vinyltec 2000 to vinyl with metal loops to the bottom of their canoes to lash gear down with. I need to come up with something for my boat and was wondering what some of you guys/girls have along these lines. pete members.localnet.com/~mkcooper

So I think I've got it figured out. I went to the biggest fabric store in Cheshire county today and they have this nylon impregnated with vinyl. $15 a yard ! So I bought 1/4 yard of it, will sew a 6" section of strapping into it and have my loops. Get some Vinyl tech2000 from EMS or a buddy and have at it. They want $5 each for these things typically which has prompted me to delay the purchase.
With this stuff I can also cut a 24" strip of it and sew a long section of strapping to it to make a lashing system for dry bags if need be. Pete

I just tie my gear to the thwarts. Low-tech, I know, but dependable and easy to do and undo. The only piece I have any problems with is the cooler, there should be a cooler manufactured with eyelets for tie-downs.
I won't hijack this thread, though.

here's a picture of a bought one, tomorrow or the next day I'll have some pictures of my 10cent version which involves 1/2 cubic yard of vinyl impregnated nylon ($4), PVC/ABS($3) all purpose cement (for plumbing normally), nylon strapping and a bit of sewing. Pete members.localnet.com/~mkcooper

JF, I finally got a few moments in front of the sewing machine tonight and have a few pics. Here's a picture of the seat belt I cut out of a parts truck I have and the vinyl impregnated nylon: Here's the vinyl cut out, and a loop sewed into the seat belt: Here's a picture of my handy work on the machine: And here's the finished product: I'm going to experiment with ABS plumbers cement tomorrow to see if that holds them in, if not use vinyltech2000 from MEC. Good Luck! Pete
