Hi, I'm new to this board and wanted to pass on my gratitude for a fine resourse! I have been canoeing a couple years and have ran a few rivers in the south of the province. Thanks Ken, keep up the great work, Steve

Steve, Welcome to the forum and Happy Holidays to you and yours. You should read all the fine trip reports on the Home page. Personally, I think the one about the Chiputneticook Lakes is the best, haha.
Take it easy, Tom

hey I just found this place and already love it. I am from Perth-Andover NB and run the little tobique alot. I prefer it before fathers day weekend because of all the spring run off and am usually there the weekend before fathers day. My family and I all go. What a life the outdoors makes.

Welcome, Jordan! Make yourself at home. The Little Tobique is a great stream.
Do you know of anyone who paddles on the Wapske, or the Gulquac? Or are they too small? I've only seen them on the map myself.

I think you'll find a few stories about the tay on here. there's a fine line between it being a long drag or a helluva hayride. Look at ken's link : www.nanookofthenashwaak.com/levels.shtmlfor some suggestions about minimum water levels. Pete

for whoever was wondering about the Wapske it is big enough for canoeing at the right time of the year. I was up at a hunting camp on it this November and we could have run it then if we'd had a boat. As for the Gulguac, I've tried to get in and look at it but lots of the acess roads up there are gated and you can't get around unless youhave a 4 wheeler.
Cheers

How's she goin? This is one of my best internet discoveries, THANK YOU! And the tire removal program is awesome! I've been canoing the lower Nashwaak and the mouth off since about 99, not that long but I love it. I have two friends that have homes on this great little river, one is on the McKiel Rd, you notice it from the river because of the dock across from the golf course, another buddy ( Steve MacCausland tire #15) has a place on the right just below the Maryesville bridge, it's got a long staircase and a steep bank aka the drunk killer, it's a nice, easy, lots of stops run. I've done from Stanley also, some evenings I just go from Steve's to a friends place on riverside dr. beside auto pride. Or a quick Nashwaak stream rip in the spring. Being from Blissfield i'm no stranger to the Miramichi, from Boisetown to Blackville from different put in and take out spots, never any long overnight trips needing real camping. I'm in the works organizing a trip down the Half Moon on June 22 and spending two nights. I would really appreciate any info and tips. The tire removal is a necessity the river is full of them myself and friends have been trying to get what we can for crap out of this river every chance we get, but there is nothing more bewildering than watching dingbats toss a pop can out a car window as you paddle under loaded with cans and trash, thoughtless creatures we humans. I did get my first retrieval today March 21, a five gallon(fiddlehead) bucket on the ice in front of the path to the parking lot across from the old tanks, within reach of a wet footed roommate with a stick.(thanks Iran Smith) Any time you guy's need a hand please call me at 472-5389.
Good to see Mitchell,Evan (aka. The skat man) and Alicia, give me a call some time Mitchell well do a trip.
Enough rambling, thank you again and good bye.

Thanks for the info riverrat. I was over in Doaktown this weekend and it didn't look good for canoeing anytime soon. I might just try a river over here if anything is open.
