Hi, I'm Ken, and I am the administrator of this board. I plan to run it hands-off, and delete only obscene and rude messages. Anything else goes.
I hope to meet you on the water this spring and summer.

Hi, My name is Roger and I am new to this site. I do most of my paddling in Ontario. I have been reading Canoeing in New Brunswick though articles in Canadian Canoe Routes . I have found these articles interesting as I grew up in New Brunswick and am aware of the locations of the rvires in many articles. This site will provide me with a lot more interesting reading.
Have a great day.

Hey ! Good to 'meet' you Ken, we've admired the site for a couple of years now. My name is Peter Gilbert. I am currently in New Hampshire but am moving back home to the fredericton area in 3 weeks. We've got a good group of fellas that do a fair bit of paddling in the province, pollet at the end of April, st croix, SW Chi May 24 wkd etc. This forum is great, it will be a very valuable resource for all of us and a great benefit to the paddling community. Gooday !
Nice little medium of exchange you've created here Ken.
Im one of the fellas that paddles with Peter Gilbert. We've been paddlin as a group for about 13 years. This will be the 14 th year for the Chi from Half Moon to Bloomfeild and we all can't wait 6 weeks to go and there have been 23 e-mails between us this week alone. Between Myself and Gilbert well try to keep yas informed on menue , gear, photos, and any words of wisdom that comes of the trip. If yopu look real hard you might see the Great White Beaver and the ever important -- Cotton Kills. Especially last May 24
Keep your Paddle in the water As Always,
Ermen

Hi,
Dave here. I'm new to this site. Mitchell told me about it when I bought a canoe from him this past weekend. I'm fairly new to canoeing. I've run Little River several times, the Cains once. Now that I have my own canoe I'm hoping to get a few more runs in. Being relatively new, can anyone tell me what the water levels are like in general this year? Any suggestions for a good day trip this weekend?

Dave,
Water levels do not look very good around fredericton this weekend. You could probably do a stretch of the Nashwaak for a day trip....give you a chance to try to your new boat out anyway.

Thanks Mitchell,
Any suggestions on a put in and take out point for a four to six hour run? Would I go up as far as Stanley? Taymouth?

Dave,
A nice run would be from behind the fire station in stanley to taymouth or durham. Last june we did this stretch with lower water levels from stanley to durham in about 7 hrs with quite a few swim and drink breaks. So you might consider taking out in taymouth to shorten things up a bit. There are no rapids of any concern through this stretch either. I may be going up north this weekend for a 2 day trip if the water levels are good, so you are welcome to join us if you'd like.

Mitchell,
Thanks for the advice and the offer. How many boats do you have going this weekend? Do you guys usually go solo or pair up or what?

Dave,
Having trouble getting anyone to join me to go up north this weekend so I may just do a river over here somewhere. You can reach me at 444-9192 if you want to go.
