Just had a great trip down this splendid river . We left after work on Thursday and drove to Whetstone Falls campsite for the night. A local guide drove us to Grand Lake Matagamon in the morning. He then drove our gear down to Bowlin Camps where we would be spending the night on Friday. It was a mostly cloudy day but the rain held off, only getting a couple showers. The water levels were just high enough that no walking was required. We portaged all 4 on the grand falls on friday. Spectacular views and colors on both days. A strong wind was at our backs and the sun was out most of the day saturday. We took out at Whetstone Falls. Definately run this river again sometime. I put some pics up at my site. mitchellamos.spaces.live.com/

Mitchell,
How was Grindstone? When I went down, we had two days of heavy rain before we got to Grindstone. It was rolling around the bend and out of sight like a freight train. I went for a long swim there, lemmetellya. All I could do was lie on my back and go foot-first around so many turns before I could stagger to shore.
My buddy Scooter says he went through Grindstone and there were only a few inches, and he had to bump and grind over a mile.

We just went to Whetstone Ken, instead of paddling the deadwater between them and end up walking around Grinstone. We knew it would be too low to run Grindstone. We had a heavy rain thursday and it brought the levels up to 500. I wouldn't do it too much lower than this though.
