I'll start with a side story.
Since the early 1990's, I have paddled a lot in Southern NB. The Tay, Eel River, Naasis and the mighty Miramichi were regular spring runs. There used to be hundreds of canoes on the SW Miramichi Victoria day long weekend. Then, the presence of paddlers started to dwindle. We might see another couple of boats all weekend.
My 2 teenage boys enjoy fishing and they'll get in the canoe or kayak to cool down in the summer but overnight is not an option. I wonder how much the internet has played a role in the reduced number of paddlers.
Any thoughts? Pete

Pete, Hey, the guys who paddled in the 1990s have gotten old, married, and have no time to get out like they used to. The new generation has found other passions to pursue. Yeah, when I see my grandchildren with their faces glued to their phones and tablets all the time, I agree with you that the Internet has turned us into passive people who would rather watch than get out and do.
