Hi All. I recently moved back to the Bathurst area from Fredericton. Although I'm originally from Campbellton/Bathurst and had a cottage for years so much of my paddling since I got into this about 9 years ago has been up north...and I am so blessed to have these rivers in my backyard. Ken Corbett reminded me of this site which I totally forgot about. If anyone is looking for tips on the Restigouche, Kedgwick, SE or NW Upsalquitch, Patapedia, Gounamitz, Nepisiguit, Matapedia or Grande Cascapedia (or perhaps other rivers in Northern NB or Gaspe region of Quebec), reach out here as I would be happy to help. This is my passion. I've popped off over 500km the last two seasons, just short of 600km in 2021, so obviously I have a new goal for 2022. Can't wait!

Hi Rob, nice to meet you. I'm in the Edmundston area, always looking for people with river knowledge. I'm planning a NW Upsalquitch trip next year, I'll sure be hitting you up for some info! I've done the Kedgwick/Restigouche in that area before. On the flip side, if you need info on rivers in NW NB, hit me up! (St-Francis, Upper Wolastoq/St-John, Baker-Brook, Iroquois, Green, Grande Rivière, etc...)

Iroquois? That is just a small stream where it runs under the Highway up by Edmundson. I'm surprised you mention it as a paddling stream.
What about the Quisibis? Is it too small? I always wonder this as I pound by it in the highway. Grand River?

It does look like a small stream where it goes under the highway, but it's wider and deeper in some places upstream. There's a low-head dam near the Deuxieme Sault Rd bridge, it's built to keep the water level higher upstream for the city pumping stations (right next to it). The river will go up to flood stage with a very good rain fall, and back down the next day. It's our goto for first melt paddling, we do 5k upstream from the dam then back down. Lots of beavers and the occasional dam, pretty flat with a small easy ledge. Other streches: Moulin Morneault and upstream: There's a 10' fall near the moulin morneault rd. Not runable. After that comes the best section from Moulin Morneault to the Deuxieme Sault low-head dam. From Deuxieme Sault to Power Rd is also runnable, but there are couple places that will require dragging and there's a low foot bridge to get around. I have not done the strech from Power Rd to the St-John as it has to many obstacles (low bridge to portage around on the Maliseet reserve, couple of unrunable rocky rapids, lots of strainers.
Grand-river = Grande-riviere: Not the best scenery, logs everywhere. Quisibis: It's on my list! Not sure why I haven't done it yet, maybe it's a lack of partner willing to try it!!
