I picked up a 16' Old Town Discovery Scout for a buddy of mine a couple weeks ago. It's polylink and has a few cracks on the bottom. I told my buddy (Glen) not to be concerned as at our age I'm sure it will do him out but I can't help but ponder repair/maintenance. As you can see in the picture I've been laying conditioner to it (beeswax/walnut oil/coconut oil) that we've been making but I'm afraid that might soften up the plastic in areas where abrasion is going to occur. To me, repair has got to be inconceivable with cracking halfway down the bottom of the boat. I'd say just use it and store it properly from here on in. I think the boat wasn't used hard, just stored improperly. Just wanted to see what you all thought.
