Anybody run the St.Croix @ 3000 water levels before? 01018500 St. Croix River at Vanceboro, Maine 07/10 05:15 EDT 8.38 3,120 771 We're running this on the weekend, overnighter to loon bay. I'm thinking it will be fun but maybe I'm wrong? Hopefully they'll choke it back to 1500 - 2000 by the weekend.

One of our paddlers was planning on taking his 13 yr old son down the St.Croix. With this in mind we opted to heed the warnings and not run the river. Quick change of plans and we hit Spednic Lake. Worked out well as I was able to throw my 2 boys in the canoe for their 1st overnighter.
We checked out the water at the put in for St.Croix before coming home. Water up over the grass at the launch, looked like fun but there was also a helicopter patrolling the river, hopefully not on the look out for someone in trouble.

I ended up doing a solo trip for 2 nights. Water was fantastic! I thought the rapids might be washed out but most were just big wave trains with no rocks to worry about. I stayed at the frist Canadian site Friday night and it was mostly washed out. The toilet was under water. The rest of the sites were high enough and fine. Little falls was actually quite easy as you could run right down the center. There were two large American Boy Scout groups that ran the American side and most of them flipped. The water was so warm that most of them didn't mind the swim through. After the falls was a blast. Huge wave trains while being splashed with warm water. Stayed the second night at Tyler rips. Short paddle in the morning brought me to my awaiting truck at Scott's brook. Would definatlely recommend at this height if you don't mind big water. I wouldn't take my 4 year old at this height thought....long swim if you spill.
