Unfortunately I have to store my discovery 169 I my backyard. I've read that UV light can damage the boat. Is it as simple as putting a blue tarp over it to protect it? Any suggestions?

I would not put a tarp directly on it as this can trap heat and cause it to warp. Maybe not a problem with poly? Not good for Royalex... If you put the boat on a couple of sawhorses upside down and hit it with 303 protectant once in a while it should be fine until you find a better solution. I have used two live trees about 10 feet apart to build a rack and then built a small roof overtop for acid rain and UV protection.
